As an International wealth management group and provider of complex offshore tax efficient structures this organisation is looking to recruit a Head of Group Compliance and Legal.
Working out of the head office in the Isle of Man and reporting to the Director of Fiduciary Services, the Head of Group Compliance and Legal’s remit revolves around the overseeing the compliance team in the Isle of Man and providing higher level technical support to the Compliance Office.
In effect you will be the prime point of contact for the Isle of Man Financial Supervision Commission and other regulatory bodies, with overall responsibility for filing deadlines and ongoing relationships and communications with them.
In addition to the compliance and regulatory responsibilities, there will be a more commercial aspect to this well paid Isle of Man job in providing legal guidance and technical assistance to fiduciary services staff and clients for various day to day company and trust related matters as well as to the board of directors in respect of legal issues arising in Group offices.
With such a business critical senior executive job the client has specifically requested that all applicants should be a UK or Isle of Man qualified lawyer with several years post qualification commercial experience, as well as at least five years' direct experience of compliance and regulation within a fiduciary services environment.
It is expected the successful applicant will be fully conversant with all relevant aspects of the Isle of Man Financial Services Act 2008 and its associated Rule Book as well as the Anti Money Laundering legislation. An appropriate qualification in the field of compliance would be advantageous but not essential.
Experience of regulatory regimes in other jurisdictions would be useful as the role will include some responsibility for overseeing and providing guidance on compliance and regulatory matters to other Group offices, in particular the British Virgin Islands and the United Kingdom.
As the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation to their business in a practical and consistent manner is essential – you can expect to have to demonstrate such at interview.
