Job Specification

This Jersey based General Insurance provider is looking to add an experienced Underwriter to its St Helier based team.

The main responsibility of the Underwriter is to decide if applications for insurance cover should be accepted and if so, what the terms of that acceptance are.

As Underwriter you can expect to calculate cover based on standard terms and to decide on any additional charges or conditions to the policy.

The majority of the policies are focused upon the commercial side and even some marine insurance. Besides studying various insurance proposals, gathering and assessing background information, calculating possible risk you will also have to decide whether the risk should be shared with a re-insurer.

Finally besides writing the policies you can expect a fair level of negotiation with clients and partners upon certain specialist areas.

To be considered for the Underwriter position you must have at least three years prior Commercial Underwriting experience. It is expected you will hold or be studying towards the ACII.
